Hartelijk dank voor je belangstelling voor Wikipedia! We werken hier aan het ideaal van een vrij beschikbare, vrij bewerkbare, volledige en neutrale gemeenschapsencyclopedie. We waarderen het enorm als ook jij hieraan wilt bijdragen!

De Nederlandstalige Wikipedia is sinds 19 juni 2001 online en telt inmiddels 2.157.475 artikelen. In de loop van de jaren zijn er voor het schrijven of bewerken van artikelen en voor de onderlinge samenwerking een aantal uitgangspunten en richtlijnen geformuleerd. Neem die als nieuwkomer ter harte. Lees ook eerst even de informatie in dit venster voordat je aan de slag gaat. Geen van de richtlijnen heeft kracht van wet, want Wikipedia is en blijft vóór alles vrij bewerkbaar, maar een beetje houvast voordat je in het diepe springt kan nooit kwaad.

Deze pagina, die nu op je scherm staat, is trouwens je persoonlijke overlegpagina, de plaats waar je berichten van andere Wikipedianen ontvangt en ze kunt beantwoorden. Iedere gebruiker heeft zo'n pagina. Wil je een nieuw overleg met iemand anders beginnen, dan kan dat dus op zijn of haar overlegpagina. Sluit je bijdragen op overlegpagina's altijd af met vier tildes, dus zo: ~~~~. Een druk op de handtekeningknop (zie afbeelding) heeft hetzelfde effect: je bericht wordt automatisch ondertekend met je gebruikersnaam en de datum en tijd waarop je je boodschap voltooide. Versturen doe je met de knop "Wijzigingen publiceren".

Vertaalverzoek

Leuk dat jullie weer bezig willen met het vertaalwerk! Ik heb alvast een verzoeknummer: eetstoornis (en:eating disorder). De paragraaf over de classificatie zou ik naar onder schuiven (bijv. voor de diagnoseparagraaf), en verder lijkt me een vertaling heel mooi en waardevol. Dear Lucas, before attempting to integrate the text, I'd like to ask a few questions. Not to be overly critical, but just because I will bear some responsibility once I insert the text.

• Have people been paid for this translation? If so, who are the sponsors and stakeholders?

• Were medical experts involved in the translation process?

Unknown, probably no

• Were reliability and references checked in the original article, and if so, where and by who?

Typical Wikipedia self-policing. I notice 3 of our top medical editors are on the list, good sign.

• Have references been checked in case the translators had to choose between different interpretations or nuances?

Translator would NOT have made choices.

• Is this a first draft and are people still working on it?

"People" are always free to edit. We hope nl.wiki improves, revises, and adapts this content.

• On what basis were some paragraphs selected for translation and others not (yet)?

Very quick look at the quality of reference sources and more objective medical content, versus cultural aspects.

Translation

Hi Lucas, I'd like to pick the following articles for translation to Dutch: Postpartum bleeding, Obstructed labour, Eclampsia and Ovarian cyst. All these articles don't exist yet on the Dutch wikipedia. It will therefore be easy to integrate the translated texts into the new articles (that I'll make). They should all link to the pregnancy article and might need to be categorized. I like to include a table of content (headings) even for short articles because it is easier for mobile users. Great to hear that people are interested and willing to translate medical articles. I made a list of articles that I think are important and can improve/enhance the Dutch article a lot.

Doctodoc, we added 4 new medical articles and are improving the one on eating disorders. Now, we can start working on your suggested topics. Bloedvergiftiging and Mesothelioom have large enough gaps that our standard translation of the English lead can help. But I would be hesitant to translate and import en.wiki content via our usual methods for the other topics. I think local Wikipedians will need to copy and paste facts and citations selectively. Did you know we have a video for pneumonia (already in 8 languages) and can get it subtitled in Dutch? (Personally, I think we need more video-style content in the mobile age.)
