Covid-numbers bot bewerken

Hi Albertoleoncio,

I just got pointed to your suggestion to update the COVID-numbers in our template by bot. There were no objections, and I am the third in favour now. I would be very grateful if your bot can run on the Dutch Wikipedia as well, and update our international numbers in this template when the become available.

If I (or others) can help you with the Dutch language, please let me know. Ciell need me? ping me! 7 feb 2021 22:10 (CET)Reageren

@Ciell: Hi! Sorry for the delay and thanks for the help. Would you help me through the bot flag process? My bot is already flagged on some others wikis, but I still need approval from a local bureaucrat. I will also need help to translate some lines on this file (lines 5-9) and that's it. Regards, Albertoleoncio (overleg) 9 feb 2021 03:39 (CET)Reageren
Thank you!!
$isocode  = "nl";
$template = "Sjabloon:Zijbalk tabel uitbraak SARS-CoV-2";
$sumario  = "bot: update statistieken";
$toadd    = "Nog toe te voegen gebieden";
$toremove = "Te verwijderen gebieden";
$log      = "log";
You can request a flag on Wikipedia:Aanmelding botgebruikers (there's an English template on the right side of the page), and you can also refer to these responses and my request here. Best Ciell need me? ping me! 9 feb 2021 09:08 (CET)Reageren
@Ciell:   Uitgevoerd. Albertoleoncio (overleg) 9 feb 2021 15:36 (CET)Reageren
Given that 'Modèle:' stands for 'Template:' I would assume the second line should read $template = "Sjabloon:Covid-19 Pandemische Gegevens"; or similar. A template that is currently still missing but I assume you (Albertoleoncio) will create that template? If you need assistance, please tell. --Frank Geerlings (overleg) 9 feb 2021 17:59 (CET)Reageren
Good point, thank you Frank! I corrected it in the text above. Ciell need me? ping me! 9 feb 2021 19:59 (CET)Reageren
I see you are using the last column for the references: the column name is "Laatste update" = "last update". We might want to consider renaming this column, but I would actually be in favour of keeping this last-update-date visible in the column, and not only in the references below. So maybe we can add one column for the references? And remove the main reference in the header/name of the table? Ciell need me? ping me! 12 feb 2021 10:25 (CET)Reageren
@Ciell: Hi! In fact, I used the last column because I didn't know how to translate properly and I still was testing some parameters. I would have to figure out a way to insert a last-update-date by the bot, but I would not recommend keep it because the template at wiki.en are updated every day, many times per day and this information will become useless fastly. Another idea is to insert this information somewhere on the template, like the Estonian template by using {{#time}} and {{REVISIONTIMESTAMP}}.
I need to discuss others characteristics of the bot, in relation to its operation. I need some suggestion regarding the frequency of the update, since each wiki chooses how it will be (pt: once per hour, et: once per day, fr: four times per day, it: once an hour except dawn...). Another thing is the limitation of the bot, since the source-code is unique for all wikis and each community defines the style of the table. So, the bot is limited to updating only the data contained between the bot tags and each line (country / territory) must be enabled like as in this edition. Because of this, even, that the order of countries must be corrected from time to time manually. Albertoleoncio (overleg) 13 feb 2021 04:07 (CET)Reageren
Hi Alberto, please excuse my late response.
The 'last update' column is not about our last update, but the date stamp on the numbers: some countries may release them daily, some weekly, and some infrequently. We could off course remove the column, but I do think this may be interesting for the comparison between countries. I'm not the most knowledgeable about the best way on how to structure the bot and it's possibilities. Maybe @Wutsje, Edoderoo: can help? Or we could move this talk to the talkpage of the template?
