Hello Jalexander-WMF, welcome to the Dutch Wikipedia!
Vlag van Nederland Welkomstbericht in het Nederlands
Thank you for participating in this community project. We would like to give you the opportunity to be free and productive. Here are a few directions that might help you:
  • A collection of useful links in English can be found on Help:English.
  • Please use our Sandbox (zandbak) for experimenting.
  • Feel free to add your expertise to Wikipedians by interest, and to use our Babel templates (taalsjablonen) on your user page.
  • Wikipedia has been an ongoing project for several years now. There have been discussions on many issues in the past. Please check the discussion pages (overlegpagina's) if you are in doubt about the contents of a given page.
  • If you want to make a careful start editing in Dutch, try to expand some of our stubs (beginnetjes).
  • Take care when editing someone else's work. Registered users can change the name of an article by using "Titel wijzigen". This method of renaming keeps the history (geschiedenis) of a page intact.
  • Questions about Wikipedia or for help can be asked at the Helpdesk.
  • To sign messages, use four tildes: ~~~~
  • More information (in Dutch) can be found on our conventions page and the wikiquette page.

Could you please leave it up to that user to fill his/her page? Thank you. Also please remember - this is the Dutch languaged Wikipedia.   MoiraMoira overleg 6 okt 2010 09:34 (CEST)Reageren

Hi Moria, thanks for the note. Because I was able to do it with a slow running bot (similar to how Steward Pathoschild does it for others though he goes a bit faster) Kelly asked me to fill in her user pages. I do it logged in as myself to make it clear where it comes from.
Given that Kelly, as part of her job, will be reaching out to and contacting a huge number of wikis it makes sense for her to have a userpage so that people can see who she is but it isn't a very good use of her time to create a userpage on all 665 projects manually, hence why my program helps me do it for her. I noticed that you deleted the user page now. I was wondering if you would mind restoring it? I understand the concern but I do think that having her marked is a good thing.
Regarding the language issue: I can completely understand wanting as much as possible in the local language but as I said we want to make sure that people can see that someone is connected to the Foundation when they edit and if they don't speak the local language using English as the alternative has always seemed the appropriate thing to do since generally enough people in the community will understand it. Another person (not an nl-wiki admin) already used admin-tools to restore the page. Thank you for the explanation. I offered him help since he "barged in" a bit by this powerplay. Please understand that we encounter impersonations as well - vandals claiming to be some one you see so we try to protect users from this. If the foundation wishes help with userpages I think it is good to explain why the are made in abundance and what the purpose is so we can know what happens and why. That way we help eachother in the common goals to help keep Wikipedia running well. I am sure many here (including me) are willing to assist.
