Het Afrikaans kampioenschap voetbal onder 21 van 2001 was een editie van het Afrikaans kampioenschap voetbal onder 21, een tweejaarlijks CAF-toernooi voor nationale ploegen van spelers onder de 21 jaar. Acht landen namen deel aan dit toernooi dat van 18 maart tot en met 1 april 2001 in Ethiopië werd gespeeld. Angola werd voor de eerste keer winnaar van het toernooi. In de finale werd Ghana met 2–0 verslagen. Egypte werd derde.[1]

De vier halvefinalisten, Ghana, Angola, Egypte en Ethiopië, zouden zich via dit toernooi kwalificeren voor het Wereldkampioenschap voetbal onder 20 van 2001.

De kwalificatie bestond uit drie ronden.

De wedstrijd tussen Kameroen en Egypte werd in de 89e minuut stilgelegd nadat er publiek het veld op was gekomen. Deze wedstrijd werd niet meegerekend voor de eindstand en moest volledig opnieuw worden gespeeld om te bepalen welk van deze twee landen zich zou kwalificeren voor de halve finale.
