The Voice is een talentenjacht, bedacht door Roel van Velzen en John de Mol. The Voice is een talentenjacht waarin het draait om de vocale prestaties van de deelnemers. Door "blinde audities" worden deelnemers geselecteerd op hun stem. Hiermee verschilt The Voice met andere talentenjachten, zoals X Factor en Idols, waar naast de stem ook wordt gekeken naar uiterlijk en presentatie. Het format van The Voice verschilt ook met X Factor op een ander gebied, want iedere coach heeft gedurende de hele show enkele kandidaten onder zich. Elke coach gaat dan ook met één kandidaat de finale in en tijdens de sing-off hebben de overige coaches geen eliminatiestem.

De winnaar van The Voice wint een platencontract, mag een eigen album opnemen en mag in het voorprogramma staan van verschillende artiesten.[1]
