Image problems

I saw your list Gebruiker:SirJective/Image problems. I just would like to notice you that solving the images problems here on the Dutch Wikipedia is impossible. I've been trying for months. I am not trying to solve all the image problems, but have just listed some technical problems, some of which can IMO be solved: By deleting the database entries/files or re-uploading the files. Can you please tell me what you tried to do, so that I see what you think is impossible? --SirJective 13 aug 2004 00:19 (CEST)

I made guidelines for what is allowed and what not (Wikipedia:Beleid voor gebruik van afbeeldingen), but many people don't even read them when uploading an image. I regulary checked the upload-list and asked uploaders of images without copyrightinfo to write the copyrightinfo at the page of the image. Some people got very angry about that. I wrote a program that placed a message of all users' talk page who have uploaded an image that is listed in the list André made of images that were not correct. Some images got solved by that, but really not much. I also had to handle with misunderstandings (e.g. i solved an image of someone, and than she saw the image and said "But that image is correct!"...) and things like that. I also asked many times for hulp but i was - and still are - completely alone. Wilinckx 13 aug 2004 10:44 (CEST)

I'm sorry to hear that noone is helping you with solving the copyright problems of these images. At de we have such a list, too. It's Bilder ohne Lizenzangabe, a huge list of ten thousand images, splitted by initial letter of the uploader. I believe you that telling users about this problem is a "no thanks work" and will take forever to complete.

And I am sorry to tell you that the copyright question is not my interest. All I am interested in with my list ist the technical problem of empty images or images without proper database entries, wether these contain copyright information or not.

Most empty images were deleted on de, so this problem was solved quickly. Database entries without images were mostly deleted, except entries with valueable descriptions, were I asked the uploader to re-upload the image (most of which have not yet reacted, so these entries will soon deleted too). I am still unsure how to handle images without image description pages - these are not even listed, if you only check the "cur" database table, so they are only listed on the list Probleemlijst afbeeldingen if you also checked the "image" table. --SirJective 13 aug 2004 15:31 (CEST)

I see. We use a list for pages that have to be deleted: Wikipedia:Te verwijderen pagina's. We usually don't use a yes/no vote, if nobody says "no" it's "yes". Wilinckx 13 aug 2004 17:59 (CEST)
