Hi Bart, the maximum body length of Telmatobius culeus realistically is >20 cm, but surely not 50 cm. I think, Cousteau measured the body length plus the extended hind legs. A frog with a real body length of 50 cm (which does not exist!) would have a weight of many kilos, not only one. So, the largest frog on earth is still Conraua goliath, isn't it? -- Fice

I agree, apparently I missed this edit on my watchlist because of later edits. By my knowlegde the 'big three' are Chaunus marinus (17 to 23 centimeter), the goliathfrog (17 tot 32 cm) and Leptodactylus pentadactylus, to 18,5 cm. Thanx for your action, Bart -B kimmel 3 mrt 2009 19:05 (CET)Reageren

Well, Telmatobius culeus is in fact a big one. This note pretends that these aquatic frog reaches even "12 inches" (= 30 cm)! And don't forget Rhaebo (Bufo) blombergi (24 cm). Big, fat, beautiful frogs and toads, all these ;-) -- Fice 4 mrt 2009 10:30 (CET)Reageren
