Margot Vanderstraeten (Hasselt, 9 december 1967) is ea Belgisch writer and journalist. she writes columns, opinion pieces and pieces for the most renowned newspapers and magazines in Belgium.

In 2003 the debut prize for her novel Alle mensen bijten.
In 2008 her bookMise en place was nomited for the Halewijnprijs.
In 2017 her boek Mazzel tov was awarded theE. du Perronprijs. and the price of the best religies biokof 2017 De Prijs voor het religieuze boek 2017 van de VUKPP (Vereniging der Uitgevers van de Katholieke Periodieke Pers.)

Work and Education bewerken

Vanderstraeten studied French-Spanish translations at the university Hoger Instituut voor Vertalers en Tolken in Antwerpen. She started asfreelance for advertising agencies and magazines as Steps, the Gazet van Antwerpen and Trends, later on her contributions mainly were published in De Standaard and De Morgen. Besides het journalistcalworks she writes fiction.In 2003 she won the prominent prize of the Dutch Belgium spelling contest Groot Dictee der Nederlandse Taal.

In 2009 het column started on the front page of the newspaper De Morgen,. Currently she writes in-depth interviews for the same newspaper. Since 2009 she is a board member of the Dutch Language unionNederlandse Taalunie.

From 2000 Margot Vanderstraeten writes novels besides het journalistic work. Starting with the Dutch publisher Querido, in 2008 she moved to Atlas/Contact.
