  • Encyclopædia Brittanica (EB) in 2005:

Experts compared for the scientific magazine Nature 42 pairs of corresponding articles without knowing the origin. Both encyclopedia's were found to contain in total 8 serious errors. On average a WP article contained 4 and a Brittanica article 3 mistakes, omissions or misleading statements. Conclusion:

  • Brittanica was superior in writing
  • The English Wikipedia was scientifically nearly as good as the Britannica.
