== Controverse ==
Bij het Kampioenschap Amerikaans Continent, augustus 2005 in Buenos Aires, werd Julio Granda Zuniga gedeeld tweede met zes andere spelers, waaronder de 15-jarige [[Gastón Needleman]]. Via een tie-break [[rapidschaak|rapidtoernooi]] werd besloten wie van de zeven als enige geen uitnodiging zou ontvangen voor de FIDE Wereldbeker.
