Tien Wiskundige Verhandelingen bewerken

In the middle of the 7th century the mathematician Li Chunfeng (李淳風) collated the Suanjing Shishu (Ten Mathematical Manuals 算經十書) at an Imperial Order, and it was adopted as the official textbook in the School of Mathematics in 656. The Suan Jing Shi Shu comprised ten classics compiled by different authors at different times, listed below roughy in chronological order:

  • (1) Zhoubi Suanjing (The Arithmetical Classic of the Gnomon and the Circular Paths 周髀算經), c. 100B.C.,
  • (2) Jiuzhang Suanshu (Nine Chapters on the Mathematical Art 九章算術), c. 100B.C. to 100A.D.,
  • (3) Haidao Suanjing (Sea Island Mathematical Manual 海島算經), 3rd century,
  • (4) Wucao Suanjing (Mathematical Manual of the Five Government Departments 五曹算經), 6th century,
  • (5) Sunzi Suanjing (Master Sun’s Mathematical Manual 孫子算經), 4th century,
  • (6) Xia Houyang Suanjing (Xia Hou Yang’s Mathematical Manual 夏侯陽算經), 5th century,
  • (7) Zhang Qiujian Suanjing (Zhang Qiu Jian’s Mathematical Manual 張丘建算經), 5th century,
  • (8) Wujing Suanshu (Arithmetic in the Five Classics 五經算術), 6th century,
  • (9) Qigu Suanjing (Continuation of Ancient Mathematics 緝古算經), 7th century,
  • (10) Zhuishu (Art of Mending 綴術), 5th century. The original text of Zhui Shu was lost in about the 10th century. Its role in the Suan Jing Shi Shu was subsequently replaced in the Song Dynasty by Shu Shu Ji Yi (Memoir on Some Traditions of the Mathematical Art 數術記遺), a book of doubtful 6th century authorship.
