The fading ghosts of twilight is het debuutalbum van Agents of Mercy. Gitarist Roine Stolt vond naast zijn werk in The Flower Kings en Transatlantic tijd voor nog een muziekgroep, Agents of Mercy. Reingold en Csörsz waren ook afkomstig uit of zaten nog in The Flower Kings. De zanger is afkomstig uit Unitopia. Het album is verspreid over zeven geluidsstudio's opgenomen. Sylvan heeft daarbij anders dan per telefoon of e-mail geen contact gehad met de andere musici, of de overige musici elkaar in de studio ontmoet hebben is onduidelijk. Stolt was verantwoordelijk voor de eindmontage.
