Mvg, Dries

EdBever (overleg) 9 sep 2011 16:29 (CEST)Reageren

Hi EdBever, you blacklisted the link lagrandedunedupilat.com globally. Thank you for your message left on my talk page (see below). I tried to get back to you and also tried to have the link delisted. Unfortunately, this hasn't been possible so far because nobody answered my request I made on the page you have indicated. So, the link is no spam, please have a look at lagrandedunedupilat.com. The link to various wiki projects had been placed because it's a multilingual website. Every year, there are over one million tourists on the Dune of Pilat from all over the world. The different links have been removed by a single user. I just reverted his edits because they have been made without any previous discussion and I have never been informed about any problem. So I hope delisting from the global blacklist can be done quickly. Best regards. -- Wikidune (overleg) 12 sep 2011 18:32 (CEST) "Dear user, you have been placing the link lagrandedunedupilat.com on many wikipedia projects. The placement of these links has been undone by one or more other users, but you have reverted their edits and placed the link again without discussing it first. This constitutes spam and the link has been blacklisted globally. This means the link cannot be placed again until it is delisted, which can be requested at m:Talk:Spam_blacklist. EdBever 11:57, 10.

You said you don't speak Spanish... but why you always remove all our articles? specially when ALL of them are in Spanish ¿?¿?¿?

Dear Lemenyou, I have not removed any articles. I did remove the loads of external links you placed to vietnamitasenmadrid.com on es.wikipedia, vi.wikipedia and en.wikipedia. You have been warned (by a Spanish user) that your actions did not comply with the guidelines concerning external links, which can be read at es:Wikipedia:Enlaces externos or en:Wikipedia:External links. You kept placing the link and as a result the link has been blacklisted. You can request whitelisting of certain pages on your site on es:MediaWiki discusión:Spam-whitelist, or you can request removal from the blacklist at m:Talk:Spam_blacklist. Ik kreeg dit commentaar van jouw nadat je alle links (6 geloof ik) had verwijdert: "Dear user you have been adding the link ancientportsantiques.com to a fair number of articles. It appears that you have a conflict of interest in placing this link on both french and english wikipedia. I would like to point you to the guidelines on external links on fr:Wikipédia:Liens externes and en:Wikipedia:External links. If suggest you discuss the placement of this link before adding it to wikipedia again. If you continue to place the link it might be seen as spamming and the link could be blacklisted. I am not saying the site is not useful or relevant, I am just asking you to consider placing the link carefully in order to avoid the suggestion of spam on wikipedia. Thank you.

Please believe me that I hate spam and I would hate to be accused of spamming. So I am ready to listen to your advice and I read Wikipedia's guidelines. However, please check the link I wish to introduce by yourself: www.ancientportsantiques.com is a highly specialized site about ancient ports and I wish to link to it at least on the French site "Liste des ports antiques" which I have been working on for several years! I spent 2000 hours on a new list that covers more than 50 A4 pages and is therfore too large to put on Wikipedia. It is however the most comprehensive list available today. As I also wish to make this information know to en.Wikipedia, and as I could not find an "ancient ports" page, I thought it would be wise to add the link on the pages concerned with Mediterranean Sea, Red Sea, and ancient Greece, ancient Rome. I did not expect that around 6 links scattered on en.wikipedia and fr.wikipedia would sound like spamming! But ok you decide! Once again have a look at this web site: it is really factual and not selling anything. It is just a lot of information given away for free. Questions: do you accept the link on http://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Liste_des_ports_antiques ? On which English page do you suggest I put the link?
I'll continue in english from here since this is a matter for various wikipedia projects.
I have not accused you of spamming. I did say there may be a conflict op interest. These additions have been detected automatically by COIbot and I have investigated that report. If you were spamming the link would have been blacklisted globally, which it hasn't. You have placed at least 15 links, according to the COIbot report. It appears these links have been removed by me and at least one other user. I have no problem with the placement of the link in a single article. The site certainly is relevant and seems to use reliable information although I have some suggestions you might find helpful:
  • Please read to local guidelines on external links to get a feel for this matter
  • While your site seems relevant, so are many other sites. Wikipedia is not a collection of links. There must be a good reason why your link should be included.
  • I suggest you discuss the placement of the link first with the local users.
  • You can use the link as a reference (if the link actually points to a certain page on the site instead of the home page), that is the best way to go if you ask me
  • You could start the english page en:ancient ports, you certainly seem knowledgeable enough.
If you need any help or assistance please let me know. EdBever (overleg) 30 sep 2011 12:46 (CEST)Reageren
Thanks a lot Ed for this valuable info. I am not that professional on Wikipedia and I needed this advice. I am surprised about the number of 15 links, surely I did not do that myself!. But nevermind, I'll restore the link ONLY on the French "Liste des ports antiques" as this is the page closest to that link. Concerning an English page "Ancient ports" I would love that! I suggest somebody translates the French page http://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Port_antique which is a good page. My English is not sufficient to do this but I'll be more than happy to review after a first translation is done. Met vr gr. http://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Discussion_utilisateur:Artreve
