Not translating certain names

Hi, I'm from South Africa, a speaker of Afrikaans. Obviously I look to Dutch often as a guide. It strikes me that amongst Wikipedia pages it is most often Dutch that simply doesn't translate names of institutions, when most other languages do. Is there a policy that you follow in this regard? I would also like to NOT translate institutions, and would like to hear any rationales to support such policy. In South Africa we essentially live in an English country and we can all speak English, just like most Dutch people can, but we are completely surrounded and immersed in English always. Translating names of institutions that we would almost always reasonably use in English when we speak to each other seems absurdly overpedantic, like creating a sort of artificial language. Thanks for coming to my TED Talk. 152.111.27.6 7 nov 2022 15:53 (CET)Reageren
