The map, to the left, is an old one, and should be replaced with the one on the right.
The left one is far to bright, and uses the term Russia, which did not exist at the time. The correct term, used in the new map, is USSR (short for "Union of Soviet Socialist Republics", commonly known as the "Soviet Union")
