- It is you who is wrong in this case I 'm afraid. The name Diederik is derived from a Germanic name originally (Dirk is a short from of Diederik, in the eastern parts of the Netherlands the form Derk was more common). Due to the German consonantshift, German has the parallel form Dietrich. Notum-sit 19 dec 2008 09:38 (CET)
