Sound of Colours is an audiovisual project that aims to gather people from different origins and cultures with musicas a universal language. The project was initiated in Ghent, where the first video Dreamworld was recorded, and will be extended to other cities.

Sound of Colours aims to bring together musicians from the most varied origins and cultures, young or older, native or immigrant, and give them the opportunity to speak the universal language of music. Through music, the project designers, Joren Cautaers, Simon De Cuyper, Reinhard Deman and Stef Lenaerts, wish to show the unity of the world beyond its diversity.

  • The first song Dreamworld expresses particularly well the core message of the project: diversity in unity. Sound of Colours is about oneness, about positivism and the will to connect people in the divers world we all live in.
  • The music and the images are recorded at different locations in one city. Each musician listens to a simple prerecorded version of the song while playing her or his part. Afterwards, all recordings are put together and mixed.
  • The editing leads to the coherent impression that all musicians are playing together.
  • As they were finishing this first videoclip, the Sound of Colours team realized that the artists involved showed a lot of interest in undertaking similar projects and thus in contributing to the strengthening of social tissue.
  • Given the participants' enthusiasm and the good reviews of Dreamworld, the project designers were confident that their next songs, whose filming would take place in other Belgian cities, would capture similar interest. And so the project continued in Belgiums second largest city, Antwerp. There, the second video Beautiful Day, was recorded and released in January 2013.
