Breda University of Applied Sciences (BUAS) accommodates more than 7,000 students from over 100 countries. It is situated in the south of [Netherlands], in the historical city of [[1]], only 100 km from both [[2]] and Brussels. Approximately 20,000 young people are studying in Breda.

In the fields of tourism, leisure and hospitality, BUAS is the largest and leading education institute in the world. According to the league table of Dutch universities of applied sciences of Keuzegids HBO, BUAS is one of the best universities of applied sciences in the Netherlands for many years.


Quality in an international setting

BUAS prepares students for management-level positions in an international setting. International accreditations from, for instance, the [World Tourism Organization] and the World leisure Organization underline the quality of education. BUAS works together with many leading education institutions all over the world. As a result, there are many opportunities for intensive student and lecturer exchanges. Due in part to the joint research programmes, student conferences and summer courses, the international character of the programmes is strengthened. Furthermore, the institution encourages work placements abroad or at internationally oriented companies.


History

Breda University of Applied Sciences (BUAS) is a relatively new name. Before 1 September 2018 BUAS was known under the name ‘NHTV Breda’. The institute itself was founded in 1966. It offered bachelor’s programmes in tourism and leisure and in this field, it still is the largest and leading education institution in the world. New (academic) bachelor’s and master’s programmes have been developed since then.
