Biography

Born in 1986 in Zeist, the Netherlands, Immanuel van Yzerlooy received his first music lessons at age five from his father, his first cello lessons at age eight from Roeland Robert and Johannes Eisenmeier and his first piano lessons at age nine from Hanke Roosegaarde Bisschop and Magda Evertse.

In 1997 he was admitted to the Young Talent class of the Utrecht Conservatory to study with Lenian Benjamins, Jeroen den Herder and Elias Arizcuren.

In 1999 he was invited to a master class with Yo-Yo Ma in the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam.

In 2001 he was admitted to the Foundation for Outstanding Young Musicians (also in 2002) and he won the National Competition of the Foundation for Young Music Talent of the Netherlands in de Doelen in Rotterdam.

Between 2003 and 2004 he built a cello under guidance of Bas Maas and Lies Muller.

In 2005 he continued his studies at the Conservatory of Amsterdam with Gregor Horsch, Monique Bartels and Dmitry Ferschtman.

In 2008 he made his debut in the final of the Dutch National Cello Competition in the Music Building on the IJ in Amsterdam with the Amsterdam Sinfonietta under Alexander Rudin. He performed Tchaikovsky's Andante cantabile with the Britten Youth String Orchestra.During his studies he performed at home and abroad, in collaboration with other musicians including pianist Yukiko Hasegawa and solo and he took master classes with, amongst others, Imre Kalman, Anner Bylsma and Arto Noras.

In 2010 he graduated with honours from the Conservatory of Amsterdam.

2014-17 Recitals in the Netherlands with pianist Daniel Kramer, Andrea Hornyak, Mirsa Adami, Van Yzerlooy Duo, Van Yzerlooy Ensemble and Bach's Suites for solo cello.

2018 Recitals in the Netherlands with pianist Nobuko Takahashi, Andrea Hornyak, Frank Jenniskens (violin and voice) and Van Yzerlooy Duo, Van Yzerlooy Ensemble and Bach Suites.

2019 Recitals in the Netherlands and France with pianist Nobuko Takahashi, Robijn Tilanus, Frank Jenniskens (violin and voice) and Van Yzerlooy Duo, Frank Jenniskens (violin), Erik Ypema and Jacqueline Verploegh Chassé (violoncello) and Van Yzerlooy Ensemble and Bach Suites.
