History bewerken

General van den Breemen was joined in setting up The Owls Foundation by Pieter de Rijcke of De Hoge Dennen Holding B.V. and Paul Baan of the Noaber Foundation. A Strategic Advice Group was also established, whose initial members were mainly former high-ranking military figures, including General Klaus Naumann, formerly Chief of Staff of the Bundeswehr and Chairman of Nato’s military committee, Field Marshall Lord (Peter) Inge, former Chief of the UK Defence Staff, General Arne Solli, formerly Norway’s Chief of Defence, and General Amnon Lipkin-Shahak, former Chief of Staff of the Israel Defence Forces, plus Dr Colum A. Gorman, of the American medical centre the Mayo Clinic. The Owls was originally a charitable foundation under Dutch law. In 2018 it became a co-operative, in order to create ecosystems with other parties that have equal or complementary ideas within which innovations develop and can contribute to a sustainable society.

Methodology bewerken

The Owls Cooperative has developed its own tool for encouraging and developing innovation, The Owls Breakthrough Method©, based on practical research. The method provides a structural framework for innovation processes from start to finish. It is a conceptual way of thinking about innovation and breakthrough processes that can be generically applied to as well as used for various purposes, from analyses to general management and governance. The Owls’ philosophy is that breakthrough processes can provide the building blocks for a healthier, more peaceful and more sustainable society[2]. A full explanation of the Breakthrough method can be found on the Owls’ website: https://www.theowlscooperative.com
