Polyisocyanurate and Polyurethane foams are similar. Polyisocyanurate, also referred to as PIR, is essentially an improvement on polyurethane (PUR). Two advantages of polyisocyanurate over polyurethane are that it is more fire-resistant and has a slightly higher R-value. Ballytherm BTF Floor Insulation comprises a closed cell, rigid polyisocyanurate foam core, sandwiched with trilaminate foil facings on both sides. The foam is CFC and HCFC free and has zero ozone depletion potential (Zero ODP). When properly installed the boards will not add significantly to any existing fire hazard. Ballytherm Insulation remains stable at temperatures up to 400 ºC. Ballytherm Insulation does not rot and does not contribute to the growth of mould, nor does it support insects or other pests.
