English: Pasimachus elongatus LeConte. Because of its large size and robust shape, this species is one of the most conspicuous carabid elements of the grassland regions of North America. It belongs to a genus which is endemic to North and Middle America. Although not firmly established, the sister taxon to Pasimachus could be Mouhotia, a genus of massive and handsome species endemic to southeast Asia. |
