| Beschrijving | In 52 AD (CE)Saint Thomas the Apostle landed in the port of Muziris or Crangannur, now called Kodungalloor in Ernakulam District of Kerala on the South West coast of India to spread the Gospal as commanded by the Lord Jesus Christ after Pentecost. While visiting the nearby Jewish community, Thomas visited Paliyoor (Paliyoor) which was those days a village of orthodox Nampoothiri Brahmins. He is said to have converted several Brahmin families in the village and established a church near the Temple pond where he baptized the Brahmins. The tank is preserved to this day with the addition of this tableau. St. Thomas went on to establish seven more Churches all over Kerala before leaving for Madras (Chennai) where he was martyred. | |||
