Science Daily, 17 mei 2007.</ref> Het is echter goed mogelijk dat het eten van [[tomaat|tomaten]] of [[tomatenketchup]] wel degelijk gunstig is en dat andere, deels nog onbekende inhouddstoffen verantwoordelijk zijn voor het eerder geconstateerde verband tussen consumptie van tomatenproducten en het verminderde risico op prostaatkanker.<ref name="PMID11880478"/><ref name="PMID12424330"/>
