IndyCar Series 2010

De IndyCar Series 2010 was het vijftiende kampioenschap van de IndyCar Series. Het kampioenschap ging van start op 12-14 maart 2010 op het stratencircuit van São Paulo en eindigde op 2 oktober op de Homestead-Miami Speedway. Ten opzichte van 2009 stonden er twee nieuwe circuits op het programma, het circuit in São Paulo en een wedstrijd op Barber Motorsports Park, dat als derde race op de kalender stond. Ten opzichte van 2009 verdwenen er twee circuits van de kalender, de Milwaukee Mile en de Richmond International Raceway. De 94e Indianapolis 500 werd gereden op 30 mei en werd gewonnen door Dario Franchitti. Hij won eveneens het kampioenschap waarmee hij met drie titels mede-recordhouder werd naast Sam Hornish Jr. die in de periode 2001-2006 eveneens drie titels won. De trofee Rookie of the Year werd gewonnen door de Brit Alex Lloyd. Belgisch coureur Bertrand Baguette finishte op de tweeëntwintigste plaats in de eindstand. Zijn beste resultaat behaalde hij met een tiende plaats in de race op de Kentucky Speedway.

Punten gridposities Indianapolis 500

Vanaf dit jaar worden er extra punten verdeeld voor de startposities tijdens de Indianapolis 500. Elke coureur die zich kan kwalificeren voor de race verdient daarmee punten. De coureur op poleposition krijgt 15 punten in plaats van 1 zoals het geval is tijdens de andere races uit het kampioenschap.
