Biochemische functies bewerken
Desoxycytidinetrifosfaat wordt gebruikt in de synthese van DNA, zowel in de biosynthese (in vivo) als in de laboratoriumsynthese (polymerase-kettingreactie). Daarbij wordt een pyrofosfaatmolecule afgesplitst en het ontstane desoxycytidinemonofosfaat wordt in het DNA ingebouwd.
