From http://www5.ncdc.noaa.gov/cgi-bin/hsei/hsei.pl, this image shows Hurricane Gaston coming ahore on South Carolina on August 29. Though it was classified a tropical storm in this picture, a post-season re-analysis by the National Hurricane Center upgraded Gaston to a hurricane as it made landfall.
