About H.G. Wells supposedly being born in Sevenoaks:
Encyclopedia Brittanica says that H.G. Wells was born in nearby Bromley, not in Kent.
Other sources (e.g. BBC in this web article) confirm Wells was born in Bromley, but state that he wrote his novel "The Time Machine" in Sevenoaks.
