Lester R. Brown
Amerikaans schrijver
Lester Russel Brown (Bridgeton, 28 maart 1934) is een Amerikaans auteur van ecologische analyses. Hij is de stichter van het Worldwatch Institute (in 1974).
Brown is auteur of mede-auteur van meer dan 50 boeken over wereldwijde milieuthema's en zijn werk is in meer dan 40 talen vertaald. Hij legt een bijzondere nadruk op het groeiende watertekort in de wereld en de snel stijgende graan- en sojaprijs die daarvan een gevolg is.
Brown is zelf opgegroeid op een boerderij in New Jersey zonder stromend water en zonder elektriciteit. Hij genoot een opleiding in landbouwwetenschappen. Hij kreeg vele prijzen en erkenningen voor zijn werk.
