Huis Baeyens is a Belgian company dedicated to the sale and rental of costumes and accessories for individuals or companies. After 110 years in Antwerp, the company decided to move its two branches to one location in Borsbeek, where they have been since 2020.
The company was founded in 1911 by brothers Charles and Alfons Baeyens after taking over the Verstraeten-Driessens business. According to Hugo Baeyens, it quickly grew into one of the largest companies in the Antwerp region in the field of costumes for meetings, theaters and plays.
The company was always passed on to the next generation of Baeyens and from 1961 Lily Kallehauge continued the business. In 2024, the company is run by Gert, Bart and Anke Baeyens. The great-grandchildren are also active in Huis Baeyens.
In 1911, the first store opened in downtown Antwerp. People could go there to rent premiums and buy items. Baeyens' toy store was also located there. The second branch opened around 2007 in Wommelgem. Here it was also possible to buy and rent other items, in addition to renting premiums. The store in Wommelgem closed since January 2020, and not much later the premises in Antwerp as well. Since then, the company has been located at Frans Beirenslaan 3 in Borsbeek.
After many generations, the company has become a household name in the theater, stage, TV and costume world, from ordinary consumers to large corporations.
